When Tina was only 1 we found out that she was highly allergic to Milk, Egg, and Peanut.  This was the beginning of our on-going journey through food-allergy awareness. We have all become experts in the fine art of label-reading, advocating, and question-asking/answering. We owe this in large part to the help from our Allergist, attending support groups, and the support/understanding of our wonderful family and friends.  There are so many more kids out there with food allergies, many who are severely allergic to much more than Tina.  It's staggering to think about the increase in food allergy diagnoses.  Although we have found many wonderful food replacements for Tina, she still feels very sad when she sees other kids eating take-out pizza, not struggling with the menu when they eat out with their families,  and having to constantly wash her hands! We hope and pray that there will be an end to food allergies in my daughter's lifetime, and hopefully in the meantime more and more people, restaurants, etc., will be more aware and open to offering allergy-free options.
