I am doing a fundraiser to support The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA), the largest and oldest nonprofit in the United States dedicated to people with asthma and allergies.

60 Million Americans live with asthma and allergies, 1-in-13 kids in the US has a food allergy, and 10 people die each day in the U.S. from asthma.

About 1 in 12 people in the US (about 25 million) have asthma, and the numbers are increasing every year.

BACKGROUND:

I am just one of those 25 Million living with Asthma.

I like to remain active, playing weekly on a competitive men's O40 soccer team, running regularly, and participating in obstacle events such as Tough Mudder, and I'm pretty competitive when it comes to sports. With Asthma there are days when I can push myself to reach my personal goals, and there are days when I need to concede that my goals are going to be controled by triggers present on the particular day. One of the things I love about running is that many races attach a portion of, or all of their proceeds to support different charities, so often running in a race also means helping to raise awareness and funding for an important cause. Since most causes do not directly affect me, I have decided to open a fundraising page to also donate and help raise awareness for causes that affect me personally, and Asthma is one of those.

MY COMMITMENT:
I've recently decided to run a race in every town in CT (169 towns in all). The process to complete all 169 Towns in CT will take several years to complete, and I expect to race up to 1000 miles in the process. Through this page, I am commiting to donate to AAFA for each mile I race during my 169 town/race quest, and will come back after each race to update the miles run and my corresponding donation to AAFA.
